About Sonora
Sonora Piano is the outcome of a vision to introduce a line of pianos that look as beautiful as they sound. Sonora reflects on the Danish piano design tradition from the first half of the 20th century but with an outlook for modern trends.
With a long history in the piano industry and a strong passion for design we recognized a gap in the market for pianos that not only sound good but also stand out as stylish pieces of furniture. This led to the birth of Sonora Piano and a commitment to creating our own line of pianos with modern aesthetics and high-quality sound at an affordable price.
The vision is outlined in the company slogan: Designed for You | Made to Play.
The Name
The name Sonora was inspired by the passion and love for the full-bodied, resonant and rich tone in our favorite pianos. Sonora means “pleasant sounding” and indicates in music richness and fullness of sound.
The Design
Our digital pianos are characterized by their simplicity and elegance, devoid of unnecessary features, blinking buttons, or complicated menus that could detract from their aesthetic appeal. We have a strong commitment to design and expression, which is why our pianos are housed in sleek, stylish cabinets. Our goal is to make a concerted effort to infuse our Scandinavian roots into the design, making our pianos both personal and reflective of our Danish heritage.
We also prioritize space efficiency in our designs, ensuring that our pianos occupy no more space than necessary. Each piano features a streamlined keyboard and a visually appealing frame, with clean, minimalist lines. This allows users to simply turn on the piano and start their musical journey without any complications.
A part of Juhl-Sørensen Group
Sonora Piano is part of the family owned Juhl-Sørensen Group. The company was founded in 1895 and is today the leading retailer of pianos and digital pianos in the Nordic Countries with stores in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Stockholm, Oslo and Helsinki.
The company is deeply committed to professionalism, service, credibility, and a passion for pianos and music. The skilled team, driven by a love for music, aims to inspire people to play the piano across Europe.
Vision based on Legacy
The company has a long tradition for producing pianos. The first Juhl-Sørensen piano was made in 1901 and it is on this legacy the fourth and fifth generation of the family has established a new devoted project. The dream is to design high-quality stylish pianos that are both a joy to look at and a pleasure to listen to.
The debut line of Sonora pianos is the first result of this vision. However, the goal is to keep developing Sonora and to raise the bar for the design and quality of digital pianos for future projects. To realize this goal a new Juhl-Sørensen Piano Research & Development Center has been created in the old Andreas Christensen piano factory in Copenhagen.
